PURCHASER is responsible for submitting warranty documentation for appliances, equipment, or other items of personal property (which have warranties provided by their manufacturer). BCUBED provides no warranty for any item which it did not manufacture, including appliances and equipment. Warranties from the manufacturer of the appliances and equipment may be available. 

PURCHASER is responsible for care and maintenance of building, appliances, and equipment. BCubed is not responsible for building maintenance or issues caused by lack of maintenance. It is recommended you follow manufacture guidance for care and maintenance.

BCubed® for BIGGBY® COFFEE buildings are equipped with Mini-Split Multi-Zone Heat Pump Systems for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). Equipment inside the building is surface mounted at the factory. The exterior unit is mounted during installation.  Buildings SMSD-0041 and after include LG units.

Please refer to the mechanical sheets for the approved building construction drawing package and the product manual for additional details. The exterior unit is mounted on the side of kitchen cube (note early models had the unit mounted on the back of the building).    

Mini-splits have two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit. A conduit, which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensate drain, links the outdoor and indoor units.

Mini Split System Connection

A licensed mechanical contractor is required to flare and connect the installed lines, release the coolant charge, and adjust as necessary to make the system ready to run. Flaring and connecting the lines for this type of system is notoriously finicky.

Mini split flare lines can fail frequently due to a combination of factors including high refrigerant pressure, improper flaring technique, using the wrong tools, poor quality tubing preparation, over-tightening the flare nuts, and potential damage to the flare surface during installation, all of which can lead to leaks at the connection points if not done correctly.

Regular maintenance is key to ongoing mini split efficiency. Here’s a simple checklist:

• Clean and dry or replace the air filter about every 4-6 weeks.  
• Clean the condenser coil about every 4-6 weeks. Before doing this, turn off the power and let the system sit for at least an hour. Your condenser coil is in the outdoor unit, and you’ll need to remove the cabinet first. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the coil.
• Keep the area surrounding the unit clean. Make sure there’s nothing close to the inside or outside unit that could potentially block airflow. This includes vegetation, boxes, snow, fallen leaves, etc.
• Ensure proper drainage. Your mini split’s evaporator collects condensation through suction tubing. Make sure the outdoor unit is draining properly.

Do I need to fill my ductless system with refrigerant?

The refrigerant in your HVAC system should last as long as the unit itself, or about 15 years. However, if your unit has a leak, an HVAC professional may need to add refrigerant to your mini split after repairs have been completed. 

What is the average life of a ductless mini-split system?

Compared to a traditional electric HVAC system, ductless mini-split system has a longer life when maintenance properly. A ductless split system's average life expectancy is 20 years with proper maintenance.

Building Warranty: (Purchase Order Excerpt) BCubed Manufacturing LLC warrants the UNIT against defects in original materials or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the installation date of the new UNIT. BCUBED will repair or replace, at its option and at no charge to PURCHASER, any work that is objectively defective, provided notice of the defect is given within the one-year warranty period. This warranty does not cover (1) finishes on wearing surfaces including floors (2) caulking (3) settling issues caused by subsoil conditions or defective foundation work (4) expansion, contraction, or settling cracks normal to construction (5) appliances, equipment, or other items of personal property (which may or may not have warranties provided by their manufacturer) (6) loss or damage due to flood, wind or other acts of nature or casualty losses. 

EXCEPT FOR THE EXPRESS WARRANTY SET FORTH IN THIS PROVISION, SELLER MAKES NO WARRANTY WHATSOEVER REGARDING THE GOODS, INCLUDING ANY (1) WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY; (2) WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE; (3) WARRANTY OF TITLE; OR (4) WARRANTY AGAINST INFRINGEMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF A THIRD PARTY; WHETHER ARISING BY LAW, COURSE OF DEALING, COURSE OF PERFORMANCE, USAGE OF TRADE, OR OTHERWISE.

PURCHASER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT IT HAS NOT RELIED ON ANY REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY MADE BY SELLER, OR ANY OTHER PERSON ON SELLER’S BEHALF, EXCEPT AS SPECIFICALLY PROVIDED IN THIS PROVISION. 

This warranty is not transferrable. BCUBED’s obligation under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement of defective materials or workmanship and consequential or incidental damages are specifically excluded. In no event will BCUBED’s liability under this warranty exceed the total amount paid by PURCHASER to BCUBED under this AGREEMENT. 

Should equipment be installed or later moved to a location different than shown on the UNIT construction plans or if electrical outlets are used contrary to labeling provided, PURCHASER may experience circuit overloading, issues with tripping breakers, or damage to equipment which is not BCUBED’S responsibility.

Intellectual Property. All design, concept, drawings, plans, and specifications of the BCUBED® structure sold to Purchaser are the sole and exclusive intellectual property of BCubed Manufacturing LLC and its owner. Some of the intellectual property is covered by pending and existing patents. See U.S. Patent No D911,533, D937,437, 11,536,043. PURCHASER’S sole right to such intellectual property is limited to utilizing same for the UNIT purchased in this AGREEMENT. PURCHASER and professionals engaged by PURCHASER may not copy, duplicate, share with others such plans, drawings, specifications, etc. for the UNIT without the prior written consent of BCubed Manufacturing LLC and/or its owner. Such consent is at the sole and absolute discretion of the owner of this Intellectual Property and may be denied.
