Power Outage Procedure

Purpose:

To ensure the safety of personnel and the protection of the                                                building/equipment during a power outage.

Procedure:

• Once an outage occurs, do NOT perform these standard functions:
  • DO NOT drain sinks/dump liquids down a sink or toilet
  • DO NOT flush toilet
  • DO NOT dump mop bucket into a sink or toilet
  • DO NOT dump ice from ice bin into sinks

For extended outages, dump ice outside

Immediate Actions

• Turn off main water coming into the building
• Two small red shut off valves are located to the left of the mop sink and slightly behind the ADA wall in bathroom. See example below.

• Any liquids dumped down a sink/toilet/drain could result in the liberty tank overflowing. If the liberty tank does overflow, there is a possibility that the wax ring on your toilet may need to be replaced.
