Maintenance Schedule
Scheduled maintenance should be performed on a regular basis. This is to assure proper operation and performance of the 275 windows.
Daily
Check the sill for foreign materials and/or syrup. (Anything that might cause the window to bind up and not operate smoothly.) Use warm soapy water or carbonated water to clean the window.
Monthly
Follow safety procedures before opening the unit. Check the interior of the unit for any buildup of any foreign materials using a dry cloth. NOTE: KEEP ANY LIQUIDS OFF THE INTERIOR COMPONENTS. Clean moving parts and lubricate with silicone or Teflon spray. NOTE: Do NOT use Grease or Oils.
Yearly
Have a service technician come in and perform a maintenance check on the unit.
Window Freezing Solutions
OG 349 Building Series
The BCubed® for Biggby® Coffee building operates with a Concord ENERGY STAR® certified mini-split system or equivalent and a programable Lennox Mini-Split Systems Wireless Indoor Unit Controller or equivalent in the kitchen cube. In the bathroom and tower cubes the building is equipped with Stiebel Eltron Electric Wall Heater or equivalent.
Note: Program options for mini-split system include Auto → Cool → Dry → Heat → Fan. In dry mode the system removes humidity according to preset conditions.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE FUNCTIONS OF THIS EQUIPMENT BY READING THE MANUALS PROVIDED WHEN YOUR BUILDING WAS INSTALLED.
Extreme cold can create frozen windows in early models of the building. As humidity condensates on the windows freezing may occur. Regulating temperature and humidity with your mini-split system should prevent freezing issues.
Humidity can become an issue when using the heat setting. Dry mode should only be used for 1-2 hours at a time to regulate humidity. The mini-split system should not be the only source of dehumidification. A dehumidifier may be recommended in some cases. To learn more reference page 64 of the installation manual.
WHILE THE BUILDING IS NOT OCCUPIED IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU KEEP THE BATHROOM DOOR CLOSED, TOWER HATCH OPEN, AND BATHROOM WALL HEATER ON.
Permanent solution:
Install an air curtain. Contact BCubed Manufacturing for recommendations.
Temporary solution:
If severe conditions present and window freezing occurs keep the air in the building circulating. This will prevent the windows from freezing. A simple, temporary solution is to install a small fan in the window corner. Point the fan toward the drive thru window and run it when the building is not occupied.
This has been tested on Cube #1 located in Alpena MI. The fan used is shown.
Energy Saving Tip: In the summer, set your thermostat to 78 degrees when the workplace is occupied, and 85 degrees or off after business hours. In the winter, set your thermostat to 68 degrees when the workplace is occupied, and 60-65 degrees or off after business hours. You can save up to 3% for each degree the thermostat is raised in the summer and lowered in the winter.
